Melatonin (Circadin): Everything you need to know
Curated by Dr. Earim Chaudry, Manual Medical Director
Overview

Melatonin is a hormone produced in the brain that helps regulate our circadian rhythm, also known as our “body clock”. In darkness melatonin production increases, inducing sleepiness, and in light, melatonin levels reduce, allowing us to feel awake and alert. Melatonin levels can be affected by stress, smoking, blue light and ageing. Supplementing with melatonin can help reset your sleep cycle and fall asleep more easily.

What are the side effects?

Melatonin is safe and non-addictive. Side effects are usually mild. They can include dizziness, daytime sleepiness, and irritability. Do not drive or use machinery for four to five hours after taking melatonin, or if you feel sleepy.

How do I take Melatonin?

Take one tablet 1-2 hours before bed. Best taken after food. We recommend combining with Good Nights, our natural supplement that contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
