What is insomnia?
Insomnia occurs when you regularly have trouble falling asleep and/or staying asleep. Insomnia can be either acute (short term) or chronic (long term). Insomnia is considered chronic when it happens at least 3 times a week for 3 months or more.
What causes insomnia?
There are many factors that can contribute to insomnia. Some people have a predisposition to insomnia, which can be triggered via a life event or period of intense stress. Age also plays a role in sleeping difficulties. As we get older we naturally sleep lighter and for fewer hours. In cases of chronic insomnia, sleeping difficulties often persist beyond the original trigger as people develop negative associations and coping mechanisms, which cause a vicious cycle.
What makes Manual’s approach to sleep different?

What treatments do you offer?
We offer a range of high quality treatments designed to leave you feeling refreshed. These include:
Melatonin: a naturally occurring sleep hormone which controls your circadian rhythm - your “bodyclock”. Melatonin can help with falling asleep and achieving more regular sleep
Promethazine: a safe, sedating antihistamine, which has been used as a sedative for insomnia for years. Unlike traditional sleeping tablets it is not addictive.
Good Nights: supplement combining the best natural ingredients: tart cherry, lemon balm and chamomile. Delivered via our patented, slow release beadlet technology to support quality sleep throughout the night
CBD + 5 HTP: a natural relaxant, cannabidiol has been associated with the reduction of stress and anxiety, common causes of insomnia. Our capsule also includes 5 HTP, an amino acid which can be converted into serotonin, and then melatonin.
How effective are the treatments and when will I see results?

Are the treatments safe?
Yes. All our treatments are safe and non-addictive. We do not prescribe traditional sleeping pills such as Z-drugs or benzos, because these are short term solutions that can cause adverse side effects such as withdrawal, addiction and memory issues.
