Why does your Summary Care Record need to be accessed?

A Summary Care Record (SCR) is a digital summary of your NHS records held securely on the NHS database. It contains key information about your health that can be accessed by authorised clinicians involved in your care.

To ensure that any treatment we offer is clinically appropriate for you as an individual, your Summary Care Record may need to be accessed before treatment is prescribed. This process provides our clinicians with additional medical context needed to make safe, informed prescribing decisions.

Where clinically relevant, your Summary Care Record may be accessed to verify the following:

• Personal information, including your name, date of birth, and address
• Medical history, including any existing conditions or previous diagnoses relevant to your treatment
• Current and previous medications
• Recorded allergies or adverse reactions to medications

Who accesses your record?

Your Summary Care Record is accessed by registered members of our clinical team, working on behalf of our pharmacy partner Faral Healthcare Limited, which carries out this check as part of your care.

We follow strict data protection laws to ensure your personal data is always processed lawfully, securely, and with appropriate safeguards in place.

Your consent

We'll ask for your consent before your Summary Care Record is accessed. You can say no but without this check our clinicians will not be able to prescribe safely, so we will not be able to offer you treatment.
You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting help@manual.co with the subject matter ‘SCR consent withdrawal’. No further access will be made from that point but we will not be able to continue your treatment.
